Year in review, new website, and moving to CaliforniaForever.com

Wed Dec 18 2024

2024 has been a busy and exciting year for California Forever. We worked with the community to design a new city with well-paid jobs in new industries, affordable homes in walkable neighborhoods, and new sources of clean energy. We then turned that plan into the East Solano Homes, Jobs, and Clean Energy ballot initiative, and submitted well over 20,000 voter signatures to place it on the November ballot. We secured early commitments from a dozen employers who are interested in bringing jobs to the new city. We delivered plans showing we already have enough water for over 100,000 residents, and an economic impact report that showed how the new city would deliver tens of thousands of permanent new jobs in Solano County, as well as a tax surplus of up to $54 million.

In April, we moved our website and social media handles to EastSolanoPlan.com to reflect the name of the ballot initiative, and to make it easier and more intuitive for everyone to find and follow these updates online.

Then, in July, we reached an agreement with the county to reorder the steps we’re going through to get the project approved. We removed the initiative from the November ballot and began work with all stakeholders to prepare a single combined set of approvals, including the General Plan change, Specific Plan, Environmental Impact Report, and Development Agreement.

Throughout the year, we also made a variety of immediate investments in Solano County. We started by distributing $500,000 in local community grants. Shortly thereafter, we partnered with Merit America and provided a $140,000 grant to provide Solano residents with training for higher-paying jobs, and we’re delighted to announce that the first participants have just graduated.

Most importantly, we announced a major partnership with NorthBay Health to accelerate opening of up to ten new local healthcare clinics. In just the last six months, we already made two of those investments. Both clinics are currently under construction, and expected to open next year. Here is an update from NorthBay on the clinic under construction in Rio Vista, and here is an update from NorthBay for the new clinic in Winters.

With the initiative off the ballot and the new year approaching, we are excited to launch a new website and return the website and social handles to California Forever—the company, rather than the ballot initiative.

California Forever is the long-term steward of over 65,000 acres in southeastern Solano County. We manage these lands across four divisions: city building, clean energy, agriculture, and habitat conservation.

Our mission remains to build the next great American city. We are here to create a place for America to build again—new industries with well-paid jobs, affordable homes in walkable neighborhoods, and new sources of clean energy.

We’re also here to show that California can build again—not in 20 years, or even 10, but on a timeline that actually improves the lives of California’s families—soon. We look forward to working with all stakeholders who recognize the seriousness of the job loss, housing, and climate challenges facing our state, and who want to make California stand for optimism and opportunity once again.

I support California Forever

I believe in Solano County and California that build again. Let’s build new industries, affordable homes, and clean energy for this generation and generations to come.
