New poll shows majority of Solano County voters support both the Suisun Expansion and Solano Shipyard

A new poll of 800 likely voters in Solano County, conducted by Fulcrum Strategy Group, one of California’s most respected polling firms, shows that more than half support both the Suisun Expansion and Solano Shipyard as a way to create tens of thousands of jobs, provide tens of thousands of new homes, and generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for local governments.

Super-majority of Solano voters concerned about lack of jobs and lack of homes

Nearly 80% Solano voters say the county needs more homes that are affordable, while 70% say the local economy is struggling and jobs are disappearing. This is the real world experience of young people who grew up here and can’t afford to stay, of working families where parents are commuting long hours, and of seniors squeezed by rising costs. Residents are clear the status quo is not working.

Nearly 60% of voters support the Suisun Expansion after learning details

51% of Solano County voters support the Suisun Expansion after a brief description, and that number rises to 59% as they learn what the project can deliver: thousands of local jobs, new homes for working families, and hundreds of millions of dollars for local schools and services.

Over 70% of young people support the Suisun Expansion

Young people are overwhelmingly in favor of the project, with voters aged 18-29 backing the Suisun Expansion Plan at 71% initially, rising to 75% after learning more. This is the generation that grew up in Solano County, but does not have opportunities for well-paid careers and homeownership right at home. This is personal for them.

Black, Latino and Asian/Pacific Islander voters overwhelmingly support

In one of the United States’ most diverse cities and counties, support among minority groups is significant, with up to 71% of minority voters supporting the Suisun Expansion Plan initially, growing to nearly 80% after just a brief and objective education on the project and its components.

Over 60% of voters support the Solano Shipyard

A near-supermajority of all voters (62%) support the Solano Shipyard. Moreover, 56% of voters support upsizing the shipyard to its original 7,500 acres to build the biggest shipyard in the world, revitalizing American shipbuilding and creating skilled trades jobs for generations to come.
